SURPRISE, ARIZ. – January 14, 2016 — She’s Lolli, he’s Pop – a little girl and her beagle pup are author Carolyn Snelling’s sweet duo, in Lolli and Pop Find Kindness. This first title in Snelling’s new Fruit of the Spirit series, is just in time to help children prepare for the sweetest season of Valentine’s Day.
Through the whimsical illustrations of Izzy Bean, preschoolers and early readers will follow Lolli and Pop’s inaugural adventure that introduces the characters as Lolli and Pop solve a mystery of a key they find, and learn about kindness. Lolli’s mom helps her understand kindness, and explains it is one of God’s fruit of the Spirit, but then Lolli faces the challenge that being kind may mean giving up something you love. The quick-moving story comes to a happy ending as readers anticipate the future adventures of the team of Lolli and Pop.
Snelling offers children and the adults who love them other ways to interact with the characters through a hidden pictures coloring sheet and Kindness Calendar, both found on her website (http://www.heartofthecrosspublishing.com).
She invites kids to post their colored pages on her Facebook page and challenges them to keep track of acts of kindness through a month-long Kindness Calendar that takes them right to Valentine’s Day.
“When kids show kindness it is always authentic, heartwarming and a great blessing for those on the receiving end,” Snelling said. “For Valentine’s Day, and any day, a Kindness Calendar can be a fun activity for both the giver and receiver as they are reminded daily of this fruit God intended for everyone.”
Helping children understand Bible concepts motivates Snelling to write children’s books.
She is also the author of Christ’s Cake, The Mystery of the Christmas Stars, The Mystery of the Golden Christmas Trees and BBall, Zip and Sock: An Easter Story.
A resident of Surprise, Arizona, Snelling is a former bank executive who has been blessed with three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Volunteering in her church’s preschool ministry has been a driving force of her writing.
